A princess dream castle
Print out, cut out, fold and glue - your beautiful palace is ready that every princess would
like to live in.
- 1 sheet A3 craft papers
- 5 toothpicks
- Pritt glue stick
- Adhesive Tape
Print out all 7 pages of the craft templates. Preferably start by building the four front towers (templates 1-4). So that you don't get muddled up when building the towers, you should always cut out and glue the different pieces of one tower before starting with the next tower.
Each tower is constructed in the same way:
a. First, carefully cut out the walls. The more precisely you do that, the prettier the castle will be. Fold all the printed edges and tabs once. To fold the hexagonal tower carefully spread glue on the tab and glue it on the inside. Cut out the matching hexagon and glue it on the triangular tabs to make a roof. A pencil is very handy for pressing down the tabs inside the tower.
b. Then cut out the turrets. Fold all the edges and tabs once. Glue the turrets together. Cut out the matching hexagon and glue it on the triangular tabs to make a base.
c. Glue the tower and turrets together. Make sure that the turrets protrude a little on every side.
d. The left tower has a blue roof. Carefully cut it out. Fold the edges and the tab once and glue them together. Carefully spread glue on the edge of the roof and stick it firmly onto the inside of the turret.
e. The towers next to the gate have an extra level. Cut out the walls, then fold and glue them. This time glue the hexagon from the bottom on the tabs to form the floor. Glue the second level with the floor onto the inside of the
turret. Spread a generous amount of glue onto the top edge and position the finished roof. Press carefully together all over. Once the glue has dried you can attach the red flag to the turret edge. Glue the yellow flag on half a toothpick and insert it into the top of the tower. You may have to cut the top of the tower a little so that you can slide the toothpick in.
Then carefully cut out the castle walls (template 5). Fold the tabs and the printed edges once.
Then you have to join the walls to the towers:
a. Carefully make two slits in each tower. The dotted lines show you where to cut.
b. Slide both two-storey towers with the slits over the long castle wall, to the right and left of the gate.
c. Then glue the other two towers to the right and left ends of the wall. Spread glue on the side tabs of the wall, slot them through a slit in the tower and press them down on the inside. Make sure that the lower wall edge is exactly level with the bottom of the tower so that the towers and the walls are stable.
d. Glue the two shorter walls to the outside towers in the same way.
Fold the large sheet of craft paper in the middle and cut it in half. Glue the last two templates (templates 6-7) onto one half. Cut out the different building parts. Fold the balcony along the edges and tabs. The markings on the palace show you where to glue it. Attach the three-storey tower to the roof of the palace. Put the other two tower pieces together to make one large tower. Glue the flags to half toothpicks and attach them behind the tops of the towers with sticky tape.
Divide the second half of the craft paper with a pencil and ruler into four different strips:
a. Then glue the other two towers to the right and left ends of the wall. Spread glue on the side tabs of the wall, slot them through a slit in the tower and press them down on the inside. Make sure that the lower wall edge is exactly level with the bottom of the tower so that the towers and the walls are stable.
b. Glue the two shorter walls to the outside towers in the same way.
Fold the 20 cm wide strip to the left. Carefully score the fold. Now draw two stripes with a pencil and ruler as shown. Cut the strips up to the lines. You now have two pop-up tabs. Fold both once to the front, then to the back. Unfold the card again and push the two pop-up tabs out. Put the craft paper together again so that the pop-up tabs are on the inside.
Now fold the left hand edge 8 cm to the right. Turn the paper and fold it again on the 13 cm marking. Then carefully glue the two 13 cm strips together. Be very careful that the pop-up tabs are not stuck together.
Unfold the sheet again and glue the flat building parts onto the upright pop-up tabs: the tower on the narrow pop-up tab, the palace on the wider one.
Finally, glue the castle wall onto the intended tabs, and your majestic fairytale castle is finished.
Tips and tricks: The more precisely you cut out the pieces, the prettier your castle will be. First cut out the
building parts roughly. Then use a small pair of scissors to cut out the finer pieces.
And that is it!

For parents/ adults:
Print the craft templates on thick paper (80-100 g/m²) to make the pieces more stable.
