Castles were built for 900 years during a period called the middle ages. The owners of castles were normally Kings, Lords, Dukes or Noblemen. The main reason to build a castle was for protection. Castles were often built on hills or with a moat. Many people wonder what the difference between a castle and a palace is. A castle is build for protecting the people who live in it from an attacking army, whereas a palace is a very nice building with pretty gardens, but not much help in protecting against attacking armies.
Cut out all the images in the documents that have been printed out. If you have chosen to print out the black and white version, you should color in all the parts.
Cut out the two large sides from your empty cereal box so that you have 2 large rectangles.
Glue images 1- 4 to the cereal box, using your handy Pritt glue stick.
Cut out images 1- 4 from the cereal box using your scissors. These will make the walls of the castle.
Now use your glue sticks to glue images 5 – 8 into cylinders.
Glue the circles (images 9 – 12) into cones.
Place glue around the tapered edge of the cylinders (5 -8), then glue the cones onto the cylinders. These will make your 4 watchtowers.
Now glue the walls of the castle to the watchtowers, as seen in the photo. This will make your castle.
Glue the castle to the garden (image 13).
Glue the windows (14-17) to the watchtowers.
Decorate the walls of the castle with the banners (18).
Fold and glue your knight and princess.
And that is it!
You are ready to have some castle fun.
We hope you have lots of fun with your castle.
We would love to see pictures of your knight's castle. You can ask your mum or dad to post pictures on our Facebook wall at “Pritt world”.
